What in the world is going on here?

A couple of days ago there was a mass shooting in Toronto. Thirteen people were hit by bullets minding their own business and living there life how they see fit. A few months ago a crazy man decided it would be fun to drive a rented van down a busy sidewalk in Toronto and kill several people who were also out doing their own thing.
Toronto is getting so unsafe to visit or live in. They should be calling Toronto, the city of death. Every single day, something horrible happens to innocent people, who just want to live there life.
I live in Brantford and it's not much safer living here, although, there isn't a daily murder-fest going on here. Here in Brantford, people get stabbed. Now stabbing someone with a knife is harder to do then whipping out a gun and shooting people. To stab someone with a knife, you have to get up close and personal. It's no wonder people turn in to recluses. It's just not safe to go out your door anymore. We can't walk to the store without wondering if we will survive the trip.
With the recent legalization of marijuana in Canada, where I live, things are going to get worse. Now there is even less chance that we are safe anywhere. Our government didn't think that one through, did they? As if they even care about the damage that they are doing to our country. The first stupidest thing was making people believe there was such a thing as medical marijuana. “Now that's funny. There is no such thing people!” Marijuana is marijuana. Making sick people or people in pain believe there is a difference is stupid. How about teaching the people how to eat healthier and help them stop smoking? How about teaching them to do moderate exercises that will help elevate or minimize their pain? I have terrible pain from a lower back injury and I’m not smoking joints. I eat healthy, exercise and I don’t smoke or drink.
Now the government says it ok for everyone to smoke marijuana, eat marijuana and whatever else they want to do with it. You are allowed to have 4 plants in your house and smoke it around your children and in public places. Marijuana is a drug and like all narcotics, marijuana will fry your brain cells.
I was in a public park a few weeks ago and that's all I could smell all over the park. I sat on 4 different benches and I couldn't escape it. Like what the hell! This past weekend I visited St. Jacob's Market and sure enough there was the strong smell of marijuana. Seriously if I wanted to get high I would smoke it. But I don’t want to and I don't want to breathe in someone else’s second-hand pot smoke either.
Getting back to the issue of crime; does our Canadian government seriously think they are helping our country by legalizing a drug that has been illegal for decades? Do they think if everyone is high there will be no crime? Hilarious! Hello stupid politicians! Drugs lead to crime. Now we will have more crime and murders because the legalized drugs will be frying the pot head's brains.
What's next? Will they be legalizing crack and heroin? That's just as stupid as legalizing marijuana. People wonder and worry about when the end of the world is coming. Well, the rate Canada is going the end of the world will be the doing of all the druggies that can now enjoy their pot everywhere in public. Especially here in Brantford, the town of welfare scumbags and pregnant teens who can't be bothered to find work because the government hands them money, so they can sit around get fat and do nothing. Brantford is the armpit of Ontario and unfortunately, I have to live here.

How I got started

Lots of people want to learn to write, and that's fine. Writing a variety of things is learnable. But in my opinion, you are either a writer or you’re not. To me, writing comes from deep inside you. It's part of who you are. Writing should come to you naturally. If it is something you struggle to do and fight to work at, then maybe writing isn't what you are meant to do.
I have been writing since I was twelve. It came to me naturally. I started with children's stories, then in college, I went through some bad emotional stuff, and I poured my heart out onto the paper in the form of poetry. Occasionally over the years, I have dabbled in writing novels, but none were very good, and I never finished any of them.
Then several years ago I joined a group called the Brantford Writers' Circle. In this group was a woman who wrote a novel, finished it and self-published it. And I thought "wow" if she can do that then why can't I? I have good ideas too. I can write. I just needed an idea. Then one day my idea came to me while watching a TV show called William Shatner's Weird or What. On this show, William Shatner told a story about a doll name Robert that caused terrible things to happen to people who disrespected it. (For the whole story of Robert the doll see link below.) From this tv story based on an actual doll gave me the idea for my first novel called The Doll. Only the doll in my book is cursed not haunted.
I wrote The Doll for Nanowrimo, which takes place every November. How Nanowrimo works is you start writing your book on the 1st of November, and you have to have 50,000 words by midnight of November 30th. Then you upload your novel to the Nanowrimo website, and it counts your words. If you have 50,000 words, you get a printable certificate and other perks for writers.
I have done 2 Nanowrimo's and I have succeeded both times. The second book which I wrote for Nanowrimo is called The Soul Jars. This book is still in the editing process and it will eventually be sent out to potential publishers.
The Doll is for sale on Amazon written under the name Rosie Burthom. (To purchase the eBook please see link below.) The Doll is also available in paperback self-published and sold by myself. See my website for my email if you wish to purchase the paperback.

The Canundrum of Helping Others

Why is it some of us are constantly compelled to help others whether it is with money, emotional support, etc...When knowing that most of the time we would be lucky enough to get a thank you. Also if it is money we are lending, then, of course, we would hope to be paid back the money eventually. Yet the person we were kind enough to lend the money too doesn't seem to realize, that it was a loan and you do eventually want your money back. Then when the person does get some money to pay you back, they, in turn, decide to lend the money to someone else.  When they should really be paying you back the money, which they owe you. So, when do you get back the money you were so, courteous to lend? I'm still waiting to find out that answer. Is there such a fine line between lender and borrower that the kindness of helping someone else financially gets lost and trust goes out the window? When does the borrower decide the money was a gift and not a loan? The lender never told them it was a gift. How come the borrower thinks that it is better to lend someone else money instead of paying the original lender back? Then when family or friendship is in the mix well, that's just a big mountain of problems brewing under the surface. There have been too many times to count when the lending and not returning of money has destroyed family relationships and friendships. Yes, it is just money but with the lending comes to respect and trust. Once those are violated by the non-return of the loan the shit hits the fan and the involved partied better duck because it will definitely hit them in the face.
Then we have emotional support. How many times have you helped someone emotionally only, to later get crapped on when you end up needing the emotional support. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should never help others. Nor am I saying don't help others just to get something in return. What I am saying is, don't you think if you take the time out of your life to help someone that you deserve the same courtesy when you are the one in need of help or support?
